Internship at Red Light Management
As I wrap up my internship at Red Light Management this week, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible experience I’ve had and express my sincere gratitude to everyone who made it so meaningful.
This summer, I had the privilege of working under the guidance of Griffin Schwab, assisting with the day-to-day management of his dynamic and diverse roster of clients. From rising pop acts to iconic jazz legends, the range of artists I was able to work with gave me a well-rounded view of the industry. Griffin’s roster includes artists such as Spencer Sutherland, Stolen Gin, Rayland Baxter, Herbie Hancock, and Christian McBride, each of whom offered unique insights into different sides of the music business.
Throughout the internship, I was involved in a variety of tasks that challenged me, allowed me to grow, and kept every day exciting. My responsibilities included brand and venue outreach, tour planning and scheduling, artist website and social media management, digital asset creation, talent acquisition, and sitting in on label and PR meetings. Each of these tasks gave me a firsthand look at how artist teams operate behind the scenes—and how much collaboration, creativity, and organization it takes to keep things running smoothly.
One of the standout moments of my internship was managing Spencer Sutherland’s YouTube channel. I was able to help contribute to a growth of over 7,000 new subscribers and more than 650,000 additional views, which was incredibly rewarding to see. It felt amazing to play a role in helping an artist’s audience grow in such a tangible way. In addition to digital work, I also had the opportunity to get hands-on at a live show with the band Stolen Gin. I worked their show from start to finish—overseeing soundcheck, managing venue operations, selling merch, and supporting the band throughout the night. Being in that environment reminded me why I love live music and how important every team member is in delivering a great experience for both the artist and the fans.
These experiences weren’t just great resume builders—they were truly formative. I’ve learned how to communicate more effectively with industry professionals, how to think creatively when problem-solving, and how to stay calm and confident in high-pressure situations. I’ve also gained insight into what it really means to be a great manager and advocate for artists: someone who listens, supports, organizes, and innovates—all while staying two steps ahead.
I owe a huge thank you to Griffin Schwab for being such a generous mentor throughout this experience. His guidance, trust, and belief in my abilities meant the world to me. I’m also incredibly grateful to Lauren Azevedo for her support and encouragement throughout the summer. And thank you to the entire Red Light Management team for welcoming me and allowing me to contribute in meaningful ways.
Additionally, I’d like to thank Jason Kessler for connecting me with this opportunity in the first place. Without his help, I wouldn’t have found myself working at one of the most respected management companies in the music industry, surrounded by such talented and driven people.
I’m walking away from this internship with a deeper understanding of how the music industry works and a stronger sense of direction for my future. I’m inspired, motivated, and excited to keep learning and growing as I continue my journey toward becoming a music industry professional.
Thank you again to everyone who made this summer such an incredible experience!
